Robert Atkinson will be returning for his second year at San Francisco – Presidio Heights and first year as Director. Robert graduated from UC Santa Cruz and is currently in a graduate program at SF State to obtain his multiple subject teaching credentials. Robert has over five years of experience working with children of all ages, both in the classroom as a para-educator and in the community working with special needs children. Robert is an avid musician and looks to foster creativity in every child he works with. He also enjoys spending time at the beach, riding his bike through Golden Gate Park, and making people laugh with goofy jokes.
“I am SO excited to be back at Edmo this summer! I have some large shoes to fill by stepping into the Camp Director position this summer, and I am looking forward to keeping the Edmo traditions alive as well as starting new ones! I feel that this camp is not only a great opportunity for the campers to continue learning during the summer, but also is a great opportunity for growth as an educator and personally. I feel extremely lucky to be a part of the Edmo family and can’t wait for the summer!!”

SPECIAL AFTER-CAMP PROGRAM Learn to play the acoustic guitar in just one week! Campers learn from an Edmo music instructor combined with podcasts by the “Little Kids Rock” founder, David Wish. All levels welcome – no experience necessary. Learn more…
“Our son loved Camp Edmo from Day 1. He requested we enroll him in after care because he couldn’t get enough of the fun and his new found best friends. We did, and he is happy as a clam unless we pick him up early which we have learned is a major taboo.”

After-Camp “Little Kids Rock” Program
(Only $45 more than Extended Care!)
Learn to play the acoustic guitar in just one week! All levels welcome – no experience necessary. Campers learn from an Edmo music instructor combined with podcasts by the “Little Kids Rock” founder, David Wish. Week culminates in a camper concert! The program focuses on popular music styles that most students already listen to including rock, blues, rap and hip-hop.
- Times: 3:30-5:30pm, M-F
- Cost: $125/week (Optional: keep your guitar for only $100!)
- Ages: Ent. 3rd-5th grade campers only
- Locations: SF-Noe Valley and SF-PH
- Dates: Weekly sessions between June 21st-July 16th
The nationally recognized non-profit, Little Kids Rock, has chosen to partner with Camp Edmo to pilot their newest program combining the power of podcast technology with live instruction.
Campers enrolled in this program will receive 2-hour jam lessons after camp each day from 3:30-5:30pm. The cost of instruction is less than $15/hour plus you can keep the guitar for only $100 more! That’s an incredible deal to give the lifetime gift of music.
Our Edmo music instructors are trained live by Little Kids Rock staff on how to implement these cutting-edge guitar instruction techniques. The Little Kids Rock immersion methodology of “learn by playing” is a perfect complement to the Edmo approach to teaching science, art and animation.
The Little Kids Rock philosophy is reflected in the famed Suzuki Method of violin instruction, introduced by Shinichi Suzuki in the 1950s. Suzuki believed that playing music was something that anyone could do, and, if introduced early enough, kids could learn to “speak” it like a mother tongue. Says Little Kids Rock founder Dave Wish: “Our kids learn through doing; it’s more motivational that way.”
Little Kids Rock believes that learning to play a musical instrument can be a transformative experience in students’ lives, with the power to inspire the creativity and confidence that are critical to success in school and beyond.
Little Kids Rock Honorary Board Members include Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, Slash, B.B. King, Ziggy Marley and a host of celebrated luminaries in the music industry.
